We deliver this through our technical capabilities, innovative approach, and a motivated team that is committed to operational excellence.Job DescriptionThe Equipment Repair Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory and testing equipment used in automotive and materials testing environments. This role ensures that all equipment operates safely, accurately, and efficiently to support testing operations and minimize downtime.The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. They are well-organized, able to manage their time effectively, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. The role requires clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, as well as the physical ability to lift and move equipment components weighing up to 75 lbs.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair environmental test equipment, including:Multi-stage refrigeration, heating and humidity systemsElectrodynamic and hydraulic vibration shakersThermal and thermal/humidity chambersCombined vibration/thermal systemsShock tables, slip tables, and amplifiersCascade refrigeration systemsPerform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.Installation & CommissioningAssist with installation, relocation, and commissioning of new and existing test systemsVerify proper mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system setupPerform functional testing and operational checks after installation or repairElectrical, Mechanical & Control SystemsTroubleshoot electrical systems including power distribution, control wiring, sensors, heaters, and safety interlocksDiagnose mechanical issues such as bearings, actuators, seals, fans, compressors, and hydraulic componentsSupport control systems, PLCs, HMI interfaces, and environmental controllers (as applicable)Calibration & Compliance SupportSupport calibration activities by verifying system performance, sensor accuracy, and operational stabilityAssist with documentation for audits, certifications, and compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, MIL-STD)Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentationSafety & Customer SupportFollow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety practicesCommunicate clearly with engineers, operators, and customers regarding equipment condition and required repairsProvide technical guidance and basic training to operators when neededTechnical BackgroundRequired SkillsStrong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings and service manualsProficiency using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, pressure gauges, and hand toolsBasic understanding of Multi-stage refrigeration systems (compressors, refrigerants, expansion devices), vibration and dynamic testing principles, and temperature and humidity control conceptsGood written and verbal communication skillsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredEPA Section 608 Technician Certification is requiredAssociate degree or technical certification in electronics, electromechanical technology, HVAC, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred3-5 years of hands-on experience maintaining or repairing industrial, laboratory, or test equipmentWillingness to work in laboratory or manufacturingValid driver's license (if travel or field service is required)Preferred ExperienceExperience with specific environmental test equipment manufacturers (e.g., Thermotron, ESPEC, Cincinnati Sub-Zero)Experience with electrodynamic shaker amplifiers and cooling systems, hydraulic vibration systems and power units and environmental chamber refrigeration troubleshootingFamiliarity with data acquisition, vibration controllers, and environmental control softwareExperience working in ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, or regulated test environmentsField service or customer-facing technical support experiencePLC, HMI, or industrial controls troubleshooting experienceWe OfferFull benefits packageWork with the latest electrical and electronics productsWork in a big company in the field of testing with an international network of LaboratoriesSalary based on experience and technical background of the candidateNice challenges and possibility of growth inside the companyThis is an onsite position located at 32201 N Avis Dr, Madison Heights, MI 48071 and does not require travel.
