Job Title: MEP Project Manager Location: Montgomery, ALEmployment Type: Direct HireTravel: 0-25% to job sites and office locationsCompensation:Assistant Project Manager: Based on experienceProject Manager: $100,000 - $130,000 (1 opening)Senior Project Manager: $130,000 - $160,000 (1 opening)Relocation Assistance Available OR $650/week living allowance for travelersPosition OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced MEP Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Assistant Project Managers to support a long-term data center construction project running through 2030These roles are responsible for managing large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects, with a focus on HVAC, piping, and related MEP systems. Candidates must have experience working for a mechanical subcontractor and managing project financials, field labor, and subcontractors from project initiation through completion.The Senior Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Installation OversightLead installation of HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems for large commercial and healthcare projectsEnsure compliance with contract specifications, safety standards, and project timelinesCoordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful executionFinancial & Budget ManagementManage full project lifecycle including budgeting, forecasting, and cost trackingEstablish job costing structures including labor, materials, and subcontractor costsConduct monthly cost reviews and identify variances or risksVendor & Subcontractor CoordinationNegotiate and manage vendor and subcontractor agreementsReview submittals for compliance with drawings and specificationsMaintain strong relationships to support project successTeam Leadership & DevelopmentManage field teams including foremen, superintendents, and trade personnelProvide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversightPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellenceSafety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to all safety regulations and code requirementsConduct safety meetings, site inspections, and incident investigationsMaintain compliance with healthcare and infection control standards when applicableReporting & CommunicationPrepare project reports, schedules, and performance updatesCommunicate progress, risks, and milestones to leadership and stakeholdersMaintain accurate project documentationQualificationsExperienceAssistant Project Manager: Entry-level to early career experience in construction or MEP projectsProject Manager: 5-10 years of project management experience with a mechanical subcontractorSenior Project Manager: 10+ years of experience managing large commercial construction projects ($15M-$25M+)Must have MEP experience, specifically HVAC, plumbing, and piping systemsData center project experience strongly preferredExperience managing field labor teams, subcontractors, and project financials requiredEducationBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferredEquivalent field experience in HVAC or plumbing will be consideredSkillsStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesKnowledge of construction best practices, contracts, and MEP systemsStrong financial acumen including budgeting and forecastingProficiency in project reporting and cost trackingBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageLife, accident, and disability insurance401(k) retirement planMileage reimbursement and monthly car allowanceRelocation assistance or weekly travel allowanceIdeal Candidate ProfileCandidates with a background in plumbing or HVAC trades who have progressed into project management roles are highly encouraged to apply.
