ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe quality of our school cannot exceed the quality of our teachers. In that spirit, we are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following "essential job duties" and responsibilities:Ensure a high level of academic rigor and consistency of classroom management practices across all classrooms in content areaCo-teach and co-lesson plan with fellow content area teachers around rigorous instructionCollaborate with fellow content area teachers, special education staff, and school leadership to continuously improve and meet students' needsConduct regular classroom observations within content area department; give and receive feedback to improve teacher practiceProvide consistent, high-leverage, actionable feedback for teachers to improve practiceLeverage diverse coaching strategies to support teacher developmentBuild trust with teachers in service of supporting their developmentConsistently attend coaching meetings with AP of Academics to brainstorm solutions around coaching caseloadActively engage in professional development, including sharing strengths of practice with colleaguesGive and receive feedback to improve practice, that of peers, and school leaders; maintain open, honest, and respectful communicationSupport teachers in content area department: plan and execute engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons aligned to state standardsOnboard new content area teachers during summer professional developmentTeach a model class, including grading, lesson planning, classroom management, long-term planning, and utilizing best practicesScaffold and differentiate lessons to support students toward independent mastery of contentMaximize the number of students actively participating in class and depth of thinking, while maintaining a high bar for rigorSupport advisory, tutorial, and elective activitiesUtilize a variety of rigorous, authentic assessments to collect and respond to student achievement dataSupport teachers in using data to inform instructionSupport the Academic Counselor with the grading system and report cards compilation (within content area)Deliver excellent student supervision consistent with the age and abilities of studentsSet and hold high expectations for academics and behaviorCreate and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom cultureEncourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes; create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voiceOther duties as assigned by the Principal or an administrator PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrate regular and consistent attendance in order to perform essential functions of the role.Serve as a substitute teacher across different spaces as needed.Collaborate with staff and leadership to continuously improve practices and address student needs effectively.Foster open and respectful communication, offering and receiving constructive feedback to enhance personal and team performance.Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior.Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families. Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom culture.Demonstrate passion for the content area you coach.Encourage students and teachers to take risks and learn from their mistakes and create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice.Supervise and engage with students in-person to ensure student safety and learning.Uphold and model core values, including purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness.Perform any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.Participate in the performance evaluation process, which is based on adherence to the outlined responsibilities and qualifications.PUBLIC SCHOOL EMPLOYMENT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEarned Bachelor's Degree.Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice.Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment.Three years of teaching experience.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSCalifornia Single Subject or Multiple Subjects CredentialOur ideal candidate has at least two years of coaching or teacher leadership experience.Bilingual in Spanish.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis full-time and on-site position requires sufficient mobility to report to campus, work in an office, and engage with students, families, and colleagues, with or without reasonable accommodations. The role may involve light lifting, pushing/pulling, standing, sitting, and bending for extended periods. Success in this role requires working well under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to stressful and unpredictable environments. The employee must effectively prioritize and organize tasks while maintaining open and respectful communication with families and community members using school platforms and technology.
