Job OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Should Costing Engineer to join our team and support cost optimization initiatives for automotive components. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in manufacturing processes, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations, with hands-on experience in should costing tools and methodologies.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform should costing analysis for various engineering components and assemblies.Develop reference/target cost models to support sourcing and procurement decisions.Analyze supplier quotations and prepare detailed reports for negotiation with suppliers.Identify cost drivers and perform independent cost calculations with minimal supervision.Define optimal manufacturing processes, machine selection, and cycle time calculationsConduct cost mapping for parts including sheet metal, plastic, rubber, and machined components.Support price negotiations by providing data-driven insights and negotiation dossiers.Work closely with sourcing and commodity teams to ensure cost efficiency.Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles effectively.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech)7-10 years of experience in should costing, preferably in automotive, tractor, or manufacturing industries.Strong exposure to sheet metal and plastic components (primary requirement).In-depth knowledge of:Manufacturing processes (machining, molding, fabrication, assemblies)Machine Hour Rate (MHR), overheads, and profit calculationsExperience with supplier quote analysis and negotiation supportProficiency in reading engineering drawings and GD&TTools & SoftwareShould Costing Tools: aPriori, Costimator, TcPCMERP Systems: SAP or equivalent ERP toolsSourcing and cost analysis platformsPreferred SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced environment
