Manufacturing Technician (NPI / Instrumentation)W2 Contract to HireOnsite, San Carlos CA 94070$31-36/hrWe are hiring a Electromechanical Manufacturing Technician to join our growing team. This technician will support the assembly and build of our instrument platform. This role will focus on hands-on assembly of complex electromechanical systems including mechanical structures, fluidic systems, and internal electrical wiring within a complex instrument chassis. The Manufacturing Technician will play a critical role in executing prototype and pilot builds, supporting the transition from engineering development to scalable manufacturing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced development environment and has experience assembling complex scientific or electromechanical instrumentation.ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on assembly of complex electromechanical instrumentsAssemble mechanical chassis, structural components, and internal subassembliesInstall and route fluidic systems, including tubing, manifolds, pumps, and valvesInstall and route electrical wiring and harnesses within instrument enclosuresIntegrate mechanical, electrical, and fluidic subsystems within the instrument chassisExecute engineering prototype builds, design verification builds, and pilot production buildsFollow detailed work instructions and assembly proceduresVerify correct installation and alignment of components during assemblyEscalate assembly issues or deviations to engineering or operations teamsSupport troubleshooting and rework activities when requiredComplete required manufacturing documentation including Device History Records (DHR), build travelers, traceability recordsRecord serial numbers and part traceability informationDocument deviations or observations during buildsProvide redlines or suggested improvements to assembly instructionsProvide feedback to engineering and operations teams regarding build challenges or assembly issuesDocument observations that may improve manufacturability or assembly efficiencySupport continuous improvement of assembly processes during pilot buildsRequirements3-7+ years of experience assembling complex electromechanical systemsExperience working with mechanical assemblies, fluidics, and electrical wiringExperience working in prototype, NPI, or pilot manufacturing environmentsPreferred industries include:Biotechnology / life sciences instrumentationMedical devicesAnalytical instrumentationSemiconductor equipmentAerospace instrumentationAdditional RequirementsStrong attention to detail and assembly qualityAbility to work independently after initial trainingComfortable working in a fast-paced development environmentAbility to identify and escalate build issues quicklyStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams
