Set the Standard.This is a high-impact HSE leadership role for someone who wants real ownership, real visibility, and the authority to shape how safety and environmental excellence show up on the plant floor"”every day.You'll sit on the site leadership team, acting as the voice of health, safety, and environmental performance while partnering closely with operations to create a culture where people go home safe and compliance is never an afterthought.If you're energized by accountability, continuous improvement, and leading from the front, this role gives you the platform to make a lasting impact.Why This Role MattersYou are the HSE leader for the site, not a back-office administratorYour work directly impacts employee safety, regulatory standing, and operational performanceYou'll influence leaders, shape behaviors, and elevate standards across the facilityYou'll help drive sustainability by improving environmental performance and reducing wasteWhat You'll OwnFull responsibility for site health, safety, and environmental performance, including compliance and continuous improvement.Design, implement, and evolve HSE programs, procedures, control plans, standard work, and reporting systemsManage and maintain all environmental permits and documentation, including air, water, and waste.Act as the site authority on local, state, and federal HSE regulations, translating requirements into practical execution.Prepare and submit regulatory reports and permit applications (air, water, solid/hazardous waste, stormwater, etc.).Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies, building credibility and trust.Co-chair the Safety Committee, leading monthly safety meetings, safety walk-throughs, and corrective action follow-up.Partner with supervisors and department leaders to drive engaging safety conversations and monthly trainingLead risk assessments, incident investigations, and proactive hazard mitigationApply Lean / Six Sigma thinking to strengthen safety systems and eliminate repeat issues.What Success Looks LikeStrong safety culture where employees are engaged and accountableClean audits, confident regulatory relationships, and zero surprisesClear, effective training that actually changes behaviorMeasurable improvement in safety and environmental performanceWhat You BringBachelor's degree (science, engineering, or HSE preferred).5+ years of hands-on HSE experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.Deep knowledge of environmental regulations, including:Title V air permitsSolid and hazardous waste programsNPDES stormwater requirementsIllinois EPA (ILEPA) regulationsExperience with HSE management systems, audits, and risk assessmentsExposure to continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma).Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and lead.Comfortable being on the floor, in meetings, and in front of regulators.
