Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on HR Manager / Senior HR Generalist to step into a highly visible role supporting a fast-paced, blue-collar environment. This is an in-office role for someone who enjoys being in the details, owns benefits and leaves in-house, and is comfortable operating without a plug-and-play HR playbook.This role is intentionally flexible and will evolve around the strengths of the first senior HR hire.What You'll Own:Core HR / Generalist SupportServe as a hands-on HR partner supporting ~600 employeesOperate comfortably "in the weeds" in a high-volume, operational environmentApply strong working knowledge of California HR fundamentals (wage & hour, LOAs, compliance basics)Understand HR team structure, capacity planning, and employee-to-HR ratiosBenefits Administration (Critical)Own end-to-end benefits administration in-houseHands-on experience with:EDI feeds (setup, testing, troubleshooting)Carrier setup, transitions, and renewalsMedical billing and invoice reconciliation (auditing, not just payment)Identify discrepancies and partner with carriers to resolve issuesAdvanced Excel skills required (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)Experience with electronic benefits platforms (no paper enrollments)Leaves of Absence (Managed In-House)Working knowledge of California Leaves of AbsenceDirectly manage high LOA volume, including seasonal spikesOwn LOA forms, timing, and compliance trackingEscalate complex cases appropriately while handling day-to-day LOAs independentlyExperience managing long-term leaves (12+ months)Recruiting Exposure (Not a Recruiter Role)Exposure to full-cycle recruiting preferred, including:Market and compensation analysisJob descriptionsPhone screens and interviewsMust have "touched" recruiting as part of an HR roleRecruiting is a shared responsibility (no dedicated recruiter)Environment & Culture FitConstruction experience strongly preferredManufacturing experience considered transferableComfortable in:Fast-paced, high-volume environmentsMass hiring cycles and occasional layoffsThick-skinned, pragmatic, and not easily offendedComfortable working with candid, direct managersRelationship-driven and trusted by leadershipFlexible, adaptable, and not clock-watchingEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledTo read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:• The California Fair Chance Act• Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance• Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers• San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
