Senior Property Accountant

CooperDouglas is partnering with a well-established real estate organization to hire a Senior Property Accountant to support a multi-property portfolio. This role will own the financial reporting and close process across assigned properties while overseeing work prepared by offshore accounting teams.This is a hands-on role with real ownership, ideal for someone who understands property-level accounting, can operate independently, and is comfortable reviewing and elevating work from outsourced partners.Key ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of 15+ properties, including month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysisServe as final reviewer of financial statements prepared by offshore teams, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timelinessOversee and manage monthly close timelines, ensuring reporting is completed by established deadlinesReview journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for compliance with GAAP and internal policiesPartner with property management teams to resolve discrepancies, including rent collections and cash activityReview accounts payable activity, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentationSupport audit and tax processes, including preparation and review of required schedules and filingsParticipate in quarterly financial review meetings, providing insight into property performance and key variancesIdentify process improvement opportunities and drive enhancements across workflows and offshore coordinationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field4-7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or multi-entity environmentsStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processesExperience managing or reviewing work from offshore or outsourced accounting teams is a plusAdvanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems (Yardi a plus)Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentCompensation up to $95,000 to $110,000 + bonus
