Human Resources AdministratorLocation: Washington, DC close to Farragut North/West (Hybrid/Onsite)This position with start out part-time (3 days in the office (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) on a temporary basis. If the position is a good fit, it will be 5 days (Monday/Friday from home; Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday in DC office) Temporary Salary Range: $35-$40/hPerm Salary Range: $75-$95kA leading higher education leadership association is seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused Human Resources Administrator to join their team. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen HR operations and serve as a key liaison between employees and an external HR partner. If you're an experienced HR professional who enjoys balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on execution, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (HR certification a plus)5+ years of progressive HR generalist experienceStrong knowledge of HR operations including benefits, payroll, and employee relationsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms (ADP or similar)Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracyStrong communication and interpersonal skillsHigh level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive informationAbility to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage multiple responsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: HR Partnership & Operations (40%)Act as the primary liaison with an external HR partner, supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboardingPartner with hiring managers to develop and refine job descriptionsCoordinate full-cycle recruiting efforts, including candidate screening, interviews, and background checksManage onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless new hire experienceOversee performance reviews, merit cycles, and employee relations processesAdminister leave-of-absence programs and maintain accurate trackingBenefits Administration (25%)Serve as the internal expert on employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement, and more)Manage open enrollment and new hire benefits orientationEnsure compliance with plan documents and regulationsAudit and maintain accurate benefits data and resolve employee inquiriesPayroll & Accounting Support (20%)Process semi-monthly payroll and manage related HRIS functionsTrack and reconcile leave balances and compensation adjustmentsSupport audits, tax registrations, and compliance reportingAssist with retirement plan administration and vendor coordinationReconcile invoices and HR-related expensesAdministrative (15%)Maintain accurate, compliant employee records and HR documentationGenerate reports and provide data insights to support decision-makingContinuously improve HR processes and systemsEmployee Experience & Leadership SupportPromote a positive and engaging workplace cultureSupport leadership with employee relations and organizational initiativesPlan and execute staff engagement activities, trainings, and development programsProvide administrative support to executive leadership as neededEqual Opportunity EmployerAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
