Payroll ConsultantLocation: Loudoun County, VA (onsite)Assignment Timeline: approx. 3 monthsOur client is looking to engage a seasoned HR Payroll professional to take on a focused, short-term initiative centered on redesigning payroll-related time tracking and reporting workflows.This role is well suited for a senior-level payroll expert who enjoys analyzing existing practices, creating order from complexity, and delivering practical, long-term solutions that strengthen operational efficiency.Project OverviewThe primary objective of this engagement is to evaluate current payroll and timekeeping workflows, identify inefficiencies and risks, and design a scalable, well-documented process that supports accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign a standardized, repeatable payroll process that supports long-term useAssess and analyze existing payroll and time collection processesIdentify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvementRe-engineer workflows related to time tracking, review, validation, and reportingDevelop clear, detailed documentation including process maps, controls, and handoff materialsPartner with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure practical adoptionPrepare the finalized process for transition to an internal payroll or operations resourceIdeal BackgroundSenior-level experience in payroll management or payroll process improvementStrong understanding of timekeeping, payroll controls, and payroll operationsProven ability to redesign processes and produce thorough, usable documentationHands-on, analytical, and comfortable working independentlyStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teamsExperience in project-based or consulting-style payroll work strongly preferredEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledTo read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:• The California Fair Chance Act• Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance• Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers• San Francisco Fair Chance OrdinanceBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
