Edison Smart are looking to hire a BAS Design Engineer to support a growing Controls business located near Baltimore MD. The BAS Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. This role involves creating control system designs, generating drawings and submittals.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and engineer BAS solutions, including HVAC controls, energy management systems, and integration with other building systemsDevelop control system architecture, sequences of operation, and points listsProduce detailed design documentation such as control drawings, wiring diagrams, and submittal packagesSelect appropriate hardware and software components (controllers, sensors, actuators, etc.)Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure project requirements are metSupport commissioning activities, including system testing and troubleshootingReview project specifications and ensure designs comply with industry standards and codesAssist in cost estimation and proposal development when requiredProvide technical support during installation and post-project phasesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in BAS/controls system designStrong knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategiesExperience with BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, etc.)Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design softwareUnderstanding of communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.)Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
