You'll also work closely with the VP of Engineering, acting as a trusted partner in technical decision-making, project oversight, and ensuring engineering quality across the organization.What You'll DoLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and grow a team of power systems engineers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative cultureAct as a technical coach, providing guidance on complex studies, methodologies, and best practicesSupport hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of engineering staffTechnical Execution (Player Role)Perform and lead power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and transient stabilityDevelop and review relay settings and protection schemesBuild, validate, and maintain system models using tools such as ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactoryTroubleshoot and resolve complex system issues related to reliability, protection, and performanceExecutive Partnership & Technical OversightPartner closely with the VP of Engineering to support strategic initiatives, project prioritization, and technical standardsAct as a final technical authority on power system studies, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency across deliverablesReview, approve, and sign/seal engineering studies and reports in accordance with PE licensure requirementsProvide input on resource planning, project risk, and engineering best practicesProject & Client LeadershipServe as the technical lead and escalation point across multiple projectsManage project scope, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring engineering quality and consistencyPartner with clients, utilities, and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative, compliant solutionsPresent technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiencesEngineering ExcellenceEnsure all studies and designs meet IEEE, NEC, NERC, ANSI, and other applicable standardsDrive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and engineering methodologiesStay current with emerging technologies such as renewables, grid modernization, and energy storageWhat You BringBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)Active PE license required (ability to sign/seal engineering documents)7+ years of experience in power system studies and analysisProven experience balancing technical execution with leadership responsibilitiesStrong expertise in tools such as ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerWorldDeep knowledge of power systems analysis, protective relaying, and arc flash studiesExperience with utility, industrial, or large-scale power systemsStrong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsNice to HaveExperience with renewable integration, microgrids, or energy storage systemsPrior experience in a lead or supervisory roleIndustry certifications or advanced specialization in power systemsWhy This RoleThis is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role without leaving the technical work behind"”while also playing a critical role in supporting executive engineering leadership and owning the final quality of deliverables through PE sign-off.
