Senior Estimating Manager

The Senior Estimating Manager leads the estimating function for the business, owning both day-to-day execution and the long-term direction of the department. This role blends hands-on estimating oversight with strategic leadership, driving consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across people, processes, and tools. You'll set standards, guide pre-bid strategy, and partner closely with operations and leadership to ensure estimates support profitable, well-aligned project pursuits.Define and evolve estimating standards, workflows, and best practices across the organizationAnalyze historical project performance to refine future estimates and cost modelsOversee estimating tools, bid management systems, and historical cost databasesLead pre-bid strategy discussions and contribute to broader corporate initiativesIdentify and evaluate competitive bid opportunities within the regional marketEstablish KPIs for the estimating function and ensure consistent executionDirect and/or participate in the preparation of mechanical HVAC and piping estimatesEnsure coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers during bid developmentReview and approve final estimate packages for accuracy, scope coverage, and completenessParticipate in pre-bid reviews, page turns, project turnover, and pre-planning meetingsOversee proposal development, including scope letters and clarificationsAdminister Q-Pen system updates, pricing maintenance, upgrades, and team trainingLead, coach, and develop a team of estimators through recruiting, training, and mentoringCreate clear growth paths and ongoing development opportunities for the estimating teamPromote accountability, collaboration, and a strong safety-first mindsetModel and support Harris' values and culture across the estimating functionQualifications5+ years of experience estimating mechanical HVAC and piping projects5+ years of applied knowledge related to construction contracts, estimating strategies, and corporate objectives5+ years of hands-on experience using Trimble for takeoffs and estimates5+ years of experience leading, coaching, or managing an estimating teamBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance401K with company matchVacation time, sick time, and paid holidays$105,000 - $158,000
