We are trusted communications advisors to leaders of sovereign tribal nations, corporations, nonprofits and public policy-focused trade organizations.Position OverviewTrysail Strategies is a principal-led firm. Our chief strategist manages client relationships, sets communications strategy, and leads the work. This role executes strategy by managing earned media and social media, keeping projects moving, and helping plan and look ahead.This position works closely with the principal and core team. You will help translate complex maters of public policy and law into plain spoken written and visual collateral both for social and traditional media. The right person is a sharp writer, fast learner, self-starter, creative problem solver, and someone who reads a room well - picking up on subtle direction and acting on it.You'll help keep the principal focused and on track. That means managing up - flagging deadlines, anticipating needs, and organizing priorities. Key ResponsibilitiesMedia Relations · Lead the creation and ongoing management of client media lists. · Lead social and traditional media monitoring and reporting. · Produce drafts of news articles, press releases, media statements, opinion pieces, talking points, and advocacy content.· Support media relations efforts on behalf of clients through drafting pitches and pitching news and stories to reporters. Social Media Management & Content Creation · Conduct ongoing research to inform social media calendars. · Draft and schedule client social media content across platforms.· Write blog content, website copy, digital newsletters, and campaign materials.· Maintain annual editorial calendars and content plans.· Monitor social engagement and compile reports using tool (Meltwater). · Run paid social media campaigns. · Graphic design (using developed templates) for social media and communications materials.· Coordinate video editing with external video editors. Project Management · Manage project workflow of incoming tasks, entering into project management tool, and ensuring the timely scheduling of the work needed to complete.· Manage project management tool (Basecamp), including daily updates, connecting tool with 'low-tech' office white board weekly priority and to-do list. Qualifications:· Bachelor's degree required. English, political science, public policy, and communications majors preferred. · At least five years of professional experience in public relations, public affairs, public policy, advocacy, or government relations. · Experience in PR agency or legislative office setting is strongly preferred. · Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, persuasive content.· Experience working with tribal nations, government bodies, or trade associations is highly desirable.· Experience with Adobe or Canva. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.· Experience with Meltwater or similar media monitoring tool. · Experience with technology and learning new programs/systems - including Claude.Position Details· Full-time W2 position with benefits, including health care · On-site Monday-Thursday, remote Friday after onboarding · Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience· Annual bonus· 12 days PTO (increases by one day per additional year of service)· 10 paid holidays· Paid parking· 401(k) with 3% automatic employer contribution, eligible following one year of service
