Position Summary We are seeking someone with several years of hands-on experience as a manufacturing (industrial) engineer or technician in a metal fabrication environment and is also knowledgeable and experienced in QA methods and procedures. For the quality role, you will be responsible for making sure all parts and finished assemblies meet both internal and customer standards prior to shipping. On the production side, you will take a lead role in improving our fabrication and assembly processes, working with both our shop floor team and engineering to refine and grow our production capabilities while looking for opportunities to gain efficiencies and reduce cost. Quality Assurance ResponsibilitiesPerform in-process and final inspections of fabricated parts and assembliesInspect incoming raw materials and components using calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM and laser scannerIdentify and document non-conformances and initiate root cause analysis and corrective action requestsFacilitate and respond to customer or 3rd party QA auditsWork directly with shop floor personnel, engineering and purchasing to resolve quality issuesMaintain inspection records and calibration logsDevelop and maintain quality control procedures and checklistsWillingness to work in noisy environments as needed Manufacturing and Production Support ResponsibilitiesSupport introduction of new equipment, including writing standard operating procedure (SOP) documents, create shop floor layout drawings and equipment capacity planningDevelop shop floor initiatives that reduce scrap and rework, while improving throughput and qualityIn collaboration with Engineering, provide hands-on troubleshooting and support on the manufacturing floorSelect tooling, fixtures and equipment to support new and existing production workReview customer drawings and specifications to assess manufacturability and estimate labor and overhead costs for accurate quotingAssist engineering with the design, construction and testing of new products QualificationsAssociate's (A.A.S.) or Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology or related fieldMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in metal fabrication or job shop environmentStrong familiarity with common metal fab processes (CNC machining, forming, laser/plasma cutting, welding)Direct experience with implementing and managing QA/QC programsStrong analytical, problem-solving and communication skillsProficiency with CAD (solid modeling) softwareKey CompetenciesQuality and Continuous Improvement mindsetProfessional communication and follow-throughHigh attention to detailStrong time management and prioritizationEmotional control and de-escalation skillsTeam collaboration and accountability Work Environment & Physical RequirementsThis role is primarily performed in a manufacturing environmentMust be able to sit or stand for extended periods, use a computer, and communicate via phone and emailMust be able to walk in the facility and work in an office environmentWhat We OfferHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off (PTO) and holidaysPaid family leave and other statutory benefits Department: Engineering Reports to: Engineering Manager Location: Westerlo, NY - On-site Employment Type: Full-time FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt Compensation (New York Pay Transparency) Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 per year This range represents the employer's good-faith estimate of the anticipated base salary for this position at the time of posting, consistent with New York State's pay transparency law. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Hannay Reels is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
