Principal Mechanical EngineerLocation: Denver, CODescription:The Principal Mechanical Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, specification, and delivery of mechanical systems within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. This role focuses heavily on rotating equipment, pressure vessels, and other major mechanical equipment, ensuring designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. The position also plays a key role in cross-functional coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical engineering scope for EPC projects from concept through executionDesign, specify, and review rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines), pressure vessels and other major mechanical equipment. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.)Collaborate closely with process engineering to understand operating conditions and translate them into mechanical design requirementsInterface effectively with other mechanical engineers and multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, electrical, project management)Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical bids for accuracy and complianceProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality oversight to junior and mid-level engineersSupport procurement, construction, and commissioning phases as neededTroubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutionsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license required (Colorado), with ability to obtain licensure in additional states preferred15+ years of experience in an EPC or similar project-based environmentStrong experience with rotating equipment and pressure vesselsSolid understanding of process conditions (pressure, temperature, flow, materials) and their impact on mechanical designProven ability to work across disciplines and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables and vendor documentation
