Position SummarySeeking an engineer to lead the design and execution of spacecraft command and data handling (C&DH) / avionics systems. This role owns subsystem architecture, onboard computing, and data flow, ensuring reliable and secure command and telemetry operations.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and lead spacecraft avionics / C&DH subsystem development across programsDefine system architecture, including processors, data interfaces, storage, timing, and redundancy approachesPerform trade studies to optimize performance, reliability, and scalabilityDevelop requirements, interface documentation, and verification strategiesSupport hardware/software integration, test, and validation activitiesLead avionics component selection, qualification, and acceptanceTroubleshoot and resolve issues during environmental and system-level testingSupport major program reviews (requirements through launch readiness)Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practicesRequired QualificationsBS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience with avionics, embedded systems, or similar architecturesExperience with spacecraft or complex data handling systemsStrong background in requirements development and interface documentationUnderstanding of data throughput, timing, and synchronization conceptsAbility to obtain a U.S. security clearancePreferred QualificationsMS in a relevant engineering discipline8+ years supporting aerospace, defense, or space programsExpertise in onboard computing, data buses, and deterministic data systemsExperience with radiation-tolerant components for space environmentsFamiliarity with communication protocols (e.g., SpaceWire-type, CAN, Ethernet, serial interfaces)Knowledge of modular embedded architectures (e.g., VPX-based systems)Experience with processors, FPGAs, and embedded hardware tradeoffsBackground in memory/storage solutions and network architecturesExperience with payload data processing systemsHands-on integration and test experience at subsystem levelWillingness to travel up to ~25%
