The Regional Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of transportation servicing our Oldcastle APG facilities and customers in the Midwest region (IL, MN, WI, IA, OH, MI, PA). The transportation network includes both private fleet and hired haul operations. Customers include national home improvement retailers, building product dealers, and contractor jobsites. This position will have team members who are optimizing and planning shipments as well as fleet managers running the company private fleet.The Regional Transportation Manager will be expected to implement strategy to improve customer service, maintain world class safety levels, ensure compliance with regulations, drive continuous improvement, and reduce costs. This position will interact with multiple business units and departments under Oldcastle APG to deliver best in class transportation services.Job Location This is an onsite position located at our Mundelein, IL office when not traveling in the region.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for strategic logistical planning for all locationsEnsures that Fleet Managers and Drivers are trained and remain in compliance with DOT regulationsManage a team of logistics coordinators, fleet manager, and 40-50 class A CDL drivers across regionMakes hiring decisions, manages performance, provides coaching and issues discipline for transportation teamResponsible for service performance (On Time Delivery)Ensure compliance with all DOT and Company policies and proceduresManage team that maintains driver qualification files including driver road testsAudit driver logs to ensure drivers are compliant with hours of service regulationsManage scheduling department to ensure company driver routes comply with DOT hoursCompany contact for insurance claims, follow-up, etc. when the claims involve company drivers' or company lease vehiclesPerform Lease/Buy decisions on equipment and provide recommendations including specificationsOversee maintenance program for company vehicles. Make recommendations for future Capex purchases.Review current vendors and seek new vendors to help reduce cost and increase fleet efficiencyWorking with site locations to refine and improve processes to increase transportation productivityRecruit and negotiate rates with core carriers as neededEnsure carriers are responding to the daily customer service requirements and are operating within established budget guidelines and contractual agreementsImplement transportation related company policy and programs and keep current on government rules and regulations, reporting when necessary to management teamProvide reporting on key KPI metrics to managementOther duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as neededJob RequirementsMinimum four-year degree in business or related field or equivalent in experience, training or educationMinimum 5+ years' experience in related transportation field; including experience utilizing transportation management software systemsAbility to travel up to 50%Strong organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft office suiteStrong Excel and Tableau skillsGood verbal & written communications skillsAbility to communicate and work with customers and drivers in a courteous, friendly, and professional mannerCompensationThe base salary is $100,000 - $120,000Annual Bonus Eligible401(k) plan / group retirement savings programShort-term and long-term disability benefitsLife insuranceHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offPaid holidaysWhat CRH Offers YouHighly competitive base payComprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programsGroup retirement savings programHealth and wellness programsAn inclusive culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotionAbout CRHCRH has a long and proud heritage.
