About the CompanyZap Surgical Systems is a surgical robotics start-up located in San Carlos, CA. ZAP designs and manufactures the ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgeryâ„¢ platform, the world's first and only vault-free, cobalt-free radiosurgery system.Leveraging first-in-kind gyroscopic mobility, the ZAP-X precisely directs radiation beams from hundreds of unique positions to non-invasively destroy brain tumors. The result: a highly effective, painless, and non-invasive alternative to surgery.Today, more than 2 million patients are potential candidates for radiosurgery, yet only 150,000 receive this potentially life-saving treatment. By removing historical cost and complexity constraints, ZAP looks to enable world-class radiosurgery in locations previously considered inconceivable.With increased demand for our product, we are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Team.About the OpportunityThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assembly/test processes and component evaluations and maintaining manufacturing documentation for company products in conformance with established goals, objectives, and regulatory guidelines.Primary DutiesActs as liaison with R&D in releasing new products, conducts DFx (x = Manufacturability, Testability, Serviceability, Value analysis).Modify/design electrical and mechanical assemblies, layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of electrical cabinets (PDU).Electrical component selection, and cable/harness, routing design.Defines, develops, and documents assembly and test procedures.Create an efficient "mid-volume" manufacturing assembly line, specifying and/or refining BOMs, workflow processes and detailed work instructions.Provide product training and support to production and field personnel.Reviews, controls, and maintains product documents, including specifications, drawings, and BOM for company productsManages and controls the implementation of supplier corrective actions to eliminate material non-conformances.Provides technical support analyzing and/or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns.Support installation and startup of systems at customer sites, including some travel opportunities.Primary Requirements:Education:Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degreeExperience/Skills/Abilities:5 - 7 years manufacturing engineering (or equivalent) experience, with at least 3 years in medical devicesDemonstrated ability for design process improvementExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver results on timeMust have experience with Altium PCB Design SoftwareActs in a professional manner even when dealing with time demands and/or interpersonal conflictsMaintains a flexible approach toward task schedulingDemonstrated ability for design and process improvement.Strong communication skills. Ability to clearly document activities and present technical information through spoken and written words.Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects at once, following through to completion.Uses a logical, systematic approach to solving problems through analysis and evaluation of alternate solutions
