Solo Brands is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our finance organization. This role is a unique opportunity to own and operate across the full spectrum of tax responsibilities for a portfolio of premium lifestyle brands, including Solo Stove, Chubbies, Oru Kayak, and ISLE Paddle Boards.Reporting directly to the Director of Tax, this role is designed for a hands-on tax professional who thrives in an individual contributor capacity while operating with the scope and accountability of a manager. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, supporting strategic initiatives, and building scalable processes across both domestic and international tax matters.Note: This is a hybrid role so to be considered you must live within a commutable distance to our Grapevine, TX corporate office. Key ResponsibilitiesIncome Tax Compliance & ProvisioningManage federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing processesSupport quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740Partner with external advisors as needed to ensure accurate and timely filingsIndirect Tax (Sales & Use / VAT)Oversee sales and use tax compliance across multiple U.S. jurisdictionsManage Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance for European operationsMonitor nexus developments and ensure appropriate registrations and filingsProcess Ownership & OptimizationOwn and improve tax processes, controls, and documentationIdentify opportunities for automation and increased efficiencyEnsure readiness for audits and maintain organized supporting documentationCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and external advisors on tax-related mattersProvide guidance on tax implications of business initiatives, new markets, and product launchesAudit & Risk ManagementSupport federal, state, and international tax auditsProactively identify and mitigate tax risksQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related fieldMinimum of 5+ years of relevant tax experienceExperience spanning both direct tax (income tax) and indirect tax (sales & use, VAT)Background in retail, eCommerce, consumer products, hospitality, or restaurant industries strongly preferredAlternatively, experience from a public accounting firm with exposure to relevant industriesStrong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations; familiarity with international tax (VAT) is a plusExperience with tax provision processes (ASC 740)Key AttributesHands-on, self-starter comfortable operating as a primary tax resourceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesEffective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionallyProcess-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
