Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain performance, including purchasing, inbound logistics, inventory control, materials flow to operations, and outbound shipping. This position will be central to helping the organization transition from a reactive, transactional approach to a more structured, scalable supply chain model.This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable doing the daily purchasing activities while simultaneously building a more disciplined, scalable supply chain function. You will lead a small team across shipping, receiving, and materials management, while also executing day-to-day buyer tasks. You will be responsible for developing a robust and structured supply chain process, while continuously reviewing data and trends to identify areas for improvement. You'll have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with suppliers, treating them as partners critical to the growth and scalability of our business.Working closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Production, and Finance, you will ensure materials availability aligns with demand, that priorities are clear, and that product flows efficiently from supplier, through production, to customer delivery. You must be able to balance urgency with judgment; knowing when to react in the moment and when to step back and improve the system. If you are motivated by building something better over time and enjoy doing tactical work to get there, this role is for you.Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Execution & Operational OwnershipLead day-to-day supply chain operations, including purchasing, inventory control, and logistics execution, ensuring planning, sourcing, production, and delivery are aligned with customer demandDo daily purchasing activities, including purchase order placement, order tracking, and expeditingEnsure timely availability of raw materials to support production schedules, customer commitments, and demand planning requirementsAnalyze purchasing data, spending patterns, and demand signals to inform better decision-makingMonitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to balance availability with working capitalResolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing in a timely and professional mannerMaintain accurate purchasing records, supplier data, and system integrity (ERP/MRP)Supplier Management & Commercial LeadershipDevelop and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers and vendorsLead negotiations on pricing, terms, and agreements to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and reliabilityIdentify and prioritize key suppliers and work to establish longer-term, mutually beneficial partnershipsSecure improvements such as volume discounts, lead-time reductions, price protections, and service commitmentsEvaluate supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.Develop and maintain a supplier metrics dashboardStrategic Sourcing & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and implement sourcing strategies across key spend categoriesIdentify and execute cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunitiesIntroduce structure and discipline to supply chain processes, improving consistency and efficiencyAnalyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and drive improvement opportunitiesPartner with internal stakeholders to strengthen demand planning and improve planning visibility and coordinationRisk Management & Supply ContinuityIdentify potential supply chain risks (e.g., single-source dependencies, capacity constraints, material volatility)Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate supply disruptionsMonitor market conditions and trends to proactively manage cost and availability risksHelp shift the organization toward more proactive planning and reduced reliance on reactive expeditingCross-Functional AlignmentCollaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Customer Service, Production, and Finance to align supply chain decisions with business needsParticipate in regular planning and prioritization discussions, including demand planning and production alignment, to ensure clarity on requirements and constraintsContribute to the development and improvement of demand planning processes, helping the organization move toward better visibility and coordinationSupport continuous improvement in how information flows between departments (visibility, accountability, responsiveness), and generally across Supply Chain activitiesCompliance & GovernanceEnsure supply chain activities meet legal, regulatory, and safety requirementsMaintain adherence to company policies and ethical sourcing standardsMaintain appropriate documentation and audit readinessSupport disciplined use of systems, processes, and data across supply chain activitiesRequired Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities5 - 10+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or purchasing within a manufacturing environmentExperience working within ERP/MRP systemsDemonstrated ability to manage both tactical execution and process improvement initiativesExcellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating pricing and termsSolid understanding of cost drivers, total cost of ownership (TCO), and how supply chains operate in practiceExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and problem solveExcellent organizational skills with strong attention to detailWorking understanding of materials, products, and logistics flows within a manufacturing environmentNice to Have'sExperience building or significantly improving procurement and logistics processes, supplier strategies, or demand planning alignmentBackground in specialty materials is a plusFamiliarity with ISO, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six SigmaExperience operating in a resource-constrained, high-growth environmentExperience supervising and leading a teamProfessional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, or CIPSBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Work EnvironmentEmployees work onsite in our Maple Grove, MN office - $115,000 annual starting range, depending on experience and qualifications.
