Director of Construction Operations - Healthcare ConstructionLocation: Charlotte, NC (Onsite + Travel)Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct HireCompensation: $150,000 - $200,000 annually (DOE)Additional Compensation: Discretionary annual bonus + mileage reimbursementPosition OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Director of Construction Operations to lead and oversee field operations across large-scale healthcare construction projects throughout North and South Carolina. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality standards are consistently met across multiple project sites.This is a high-impact leadership role requiring extensive experience in hospital construction, MEP systems, and large-scale project delivery, along with a strong background in developing and implementing standard operating procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Leadership & StrategyLead and oversee field operations across multiple $10M+ healthcare construction projectsAlign project execution with organizational goals, ensuring consistency in processes and performanceDrive operational efficiency through standardized workflows, tools, and best practicesSafety & ComplianceChampion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and industry standardsImplement safety programs, training initiatives, and risk mitigation strategiesMonitor safety performance and drive continuous improvementProject Execution & OversightEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standardsProvide guidance on scheduling, resource allocation, and project planningIdentify and mitigate risks across all phases of constructionQuality AssuranceEstablish and enforce quality control standards and inspection proceduresOversee documentation, testing, and resolution of quality-related issuesEnsure adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirementsSubcontractor & Vendor ManagementSupport subcontractor selection, negotiations, and performance evaluationsBuild and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractorsMitigate risks related to subcontractor performance and project deliveryTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and SuperintendentsFoster a high-performing, collaborative team environmentSupport training, coaching, and career development initiativesClient & Stakeholder EngagementServe as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholdersEnsure client expectations are met throughout the project lifecycleSupport business development and long-term client relationshipsQualificationsEducationBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related fieldExperience15+ years of experience managing large, complex commercial construction projects ($10M+)5+ years in a leadership role overseeing multiple projects or teamsStrong experience in healthcare or hospital construction (mission-critical experience preferred)Background in MEP systems, mechanical contracting, and superintendent-level field operationsExperience developing and implementing SOPs for safety, planning, and qualitySkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsAdvanced knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, and financial performanceProven ability to manage complex, multi-project environmentsStrong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilitiesProficiency in project management and scheduling toolsWork Environment & Travel50%-75% travel to project sites across North and South CarolinaCombination of active construction sites and office environmentAbility to stand, walk, and perform physical site activities as neededBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company match (100% of first 3%, 50% of next 2%)120 hours PTO + 9 paid holidaysMileage reimbursement and vehicle allowanceWhy Work with Wheeler Staffing PartnersWheeler Staffing Partners connects top talent with leading organizations, offering personalized support, career guidance, and access to impactful opportunities.Apply today to be considered for this opportunity with Wheeler Staffing Partners.
