BuyerPosition OverviewMetro Wire & Cable is seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to support day-to-day purchasing and supplier coordination across our wire, cable, and industrial product lines.This role is focused on execution, responsiveness, and communication"”ensuring material availability, accurate order placement, and alignment with customer demand in a fast-paced distribution environment.A key aspect of this role is partnering closely with our sales team, who function as the internal customer, requiring strong communication, urgency, and follow-through.This is a strong fit for someone early to mid-career in procurement who wants to build experience in supplier management, inventory planning, and project-based sourcing.Key Responsibilities• Execute purchase orders and manage the full order lifecycle (placement ? confirmation ? delivery) • Communicate with suppliers on lead times, pricing, and order status • Track and resolve backorders, delays, and discrepancies • Partner closely with sales to ensure purchasing aligns with customer demand, project timelines, and job requirements • Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP systems • Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment decisions • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing optionsWhat This Role IsThis role is: • Hands-on and execution-focused • Highly collaborative, with sales as the primary internal partner • Fast-paced, requiring responsiveness and strong prioritizationThis role is not: • A strategic sourcing or category management position • Primarily focused on long-term contract negotiations • A siloed procurement roleQualifications• Bachelor's degree or 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, buying, or supply chain (electrical distribution or industrial preferred) • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities simultaneously • Comfortable communicating with both suppliers and internal stakeholders • Experience with ERP systems and basic inventory concepts • Experience supporting project-based or engineered product purchasing is a plusWhat Success Looks Like• Orders are placed accurately and on time • Supplier communication is proactive and reliable • Sales teams are consistently informed and supported • Backorders and delays are minimized and well-managedWhy Join Metro Wire & Cable• Family-oriented, team-driven environment where people are accessible and decisions move quickly • A company with clear plans to scale and grow over the next 5-10 years, creating opportunities for advancement • Exposure to large-scale infrastructure and project-based supply environments • A culture built on reliability, responsiveness, and strong internal relationships
