This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, goods, and services while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and supplier performance. The Buyer/Planner collaborates cross-functionally to support production goals and drive continuous improvement within the supply chain function.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and evaluate purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracySource and engage vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery informationEvaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and overall valueAnalyze market trends and pricing to support cost-effective purchasing decisionsDetermine appropriate procurement methods, including direct purchases and competitive biddingPrepare and issue purchase orders and bid requestsReview bid proposals and negotiate contracts within established budgetary guidelines and scope of authorityMaintain accurate procurement records, including pricing, delivery performance, product quality, and inventory levelsPartner with Quality, Operations, and suppliers to resolve issues related to defective or non-conforming materials and implement corrective actionsApprove invoices for payment in accordance with company proceduresExpedite material deliveries to meet production and operational needsSupport continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and planning functionsPerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, or a related field requiredMinimum of three (3) years of related experience in a manufacturing environmentEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be consideredExperience with ERP/MRP systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)SQL experience preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of attention to detail and organizational skillsAnalytical thinking and problem-solving capabilityPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeOccasional lifting of up to 25 poundsDexter is driven by our core values committed to Safety, Quality and Integrity: Execute with Determination - Be curious, work together, break new ground, find solutions, fulfill our commitments, surpass expectations!Connect with People - Empower employees to grow, engage and collaborate; build lasting customer partnerships; care for our communities.Do the Right Thing - For our people, for our customers, and for the business.
