Title: Associate, Commercial Analytics - Power GenerationOverviewA privately owned global developer, manager, and owner of modern power infrastructure is seeking an Associate, Commercial Analytics. The organization's entrepreneurial team works to deliver reliable energy to communities while providing economic benefits. As an independent power producer, it focuses on low-carbon and renewable energy projects that support a cleaner, more reliable energy future. With offices in Boston and Houston, the company is continuing to grow and is looking for enthusiastic professionals to join its team.The Opportunity:Join a growing team dedicated to the development and management of energy infrastructure, community economic development, corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and participation in the success of a highly ethical and competitive, privately held company. This is a full-time position based in the Boston office.The Associate will be part of the Asset Management group, focusing on power generation projects in both construction and operation. The Commercial Team manages commodity market risk for a portfolio of assets across several North American regions and develops strategies to drive shareholder returns.Responsibilities:The Associate will assist with:Managing gas and electricity market positions, offtake agreements, economic analysis, and other project-level commercial arrangementsAnalyzing historical and forward market data to support commodity transaction executionBuilding and maintaining industry knowledge of energy markets (power, gas, RECs), transmission, and emerging trendsManaging a SQL database and associated Python ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines for commodity prices and asset performance metricsGenerating internal and external financial performance reportsMaintaining and developing hedge settlement and financial forecasting modelsCollaborating across Asset Management functions to maximize performanceQualifications:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in finance, economics, engineering, accounting, environmental studies, or a related fieldAt least 2 years of experience in power generation or the energy commodity industryStrong verbal, written, analytical, and negotiation skillsAdvanced MS Excel and data processing capabilitiesExperience with Python (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, Psycopg2)Experience with Excel automation (VBA, XLWings, OpenPyXL, WinCom32)Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, PGAdmin)Experience establishing and maintaining API connectionsAbility to work effectively in a matrixed organizationKnowledge of quantitative financial methods used in commodity transactions (swaps, futures, options, etc.)Strong interest in U.S. energy marketsAbility to learn quickly and work independentlyStrong business and financial acumenWillingness to travel up to 10%
