In this role, you will oversee all activities related to material planning and procurement to support on-time delivery, cost control, and high-quality manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your career with the world's largest do-it-yourself moving company.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a team of buyers, planners, warehouse staff, and material handlersEstablish and monitor KPIs for material availability, inventory accuracy, and supplier performancePromote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvementDevelop and manage material requirements planning (MRP) aligned with production schedulesForecast material needs based on customer demand, engineering changes, and capacity planningCoordinate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Quality teamsMonitor lead times and adjust planning parameters to avoid shortages or excess inventorySource and procure materials, including sheet metal (steel, stainless, aluminum), tubing, plate, hardware, and outsourced servicesNegotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliersEvaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery, and cost)Maintain relationships with mills, distributors, and specialty vendorsResolve material shortages and support engineering with new part setups and BOM validationEnsure accuracy of BOMs, item masters, and inventory transactions within SAPGenerate reports on inventory, usage, scrap, and purchasing performanceDrive continuous improvement in material flow, cost reduction, and system accuracyPreferred QualificationsExperience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, or similar manufacturing environmentsStrong knowledge of metal types, gauges, tolerances, and fabrication processesBachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, or related fieldAPICS/ASCM certification preferredExperience in high-mix, high-volume manufacturingPrior leadership experience (formal or informal)ERP experience required; SAP preferredProficiency in Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and material flow optimizationAbility to read engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team membersExcellent project management skills with the ability to work independentlyWork EnvironmentThis role involves moderate risks requiring adherence to safety protocols, including working around machinery, moving parts, fumes, or chemicals. Use of protective equipment (e.g., gloves, goggles, masks) may be required.Physical DemandsExtended periods of standing, walking, and working indoors/outdoorsAbility to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
