Senior Electrical Design Engineer Location: Austin or Dallas, TX (Hybrid)Type: Full-TimeOverviewA leading engineering solutions provider in the mission-critical infrastructure space is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support rapid growth across complex, high-value projects. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, can operate independently, and is comfortable owning design deliverables from concept through execution.You will play a key role in delivering electrical designs for data centers, power plants, and other industrial/mission-critical facilities, working closely with clients, internal teams, and manufacturing partners.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical Execution (˜80%)Lead and support electrical design across multiple concurrent projects (up to ~15)Develop and produce:Single-line diagramsElectrical schematicsEquipment layout drawingsTechnical specificationsDesign low- to medium-voltage (LV-MV) power distribution systems, including:Utility and generator integrationUPS systems and backup powerDistribution and protection systemsPerform or support protection and coordination studies (experience with SEL relays strongly preferred)Create designs directly in CAD tools (no dedicated drafting team)Project & Client EngagementEngage directly with customers on a daily basis, especially during early project phasesSupport pre-sales engineering efforts, including:Concept design3D modellingTechnical proposals and specificationsCollaborate cross-functionally with:Project ManagersManufacturing teamsField techniciansJunior engineersParticipate in:Site visitsFactory visitsTechnical presentations and troubleshooting discussionsProject Lifecycle InvolvementHeavily involved in early-stage design and project acquisition (first ~4 weeks)Transition into a support/review role during execution and deliveryContribute to ongoing service and lifecycle support of deployed systemsWhat You'll Deliver in Your First 6-12 MonthsIndependently execute high-quality electrical designs across multiple projectsReduce bandwidth constraints on senior team members by owning deliverables end-to-endSupport successful project wins through strong concept design and technical inputBuild trusted relationships with clients through effective communication and responsivenessMentor junior engineers and contribute to overall team capabilityRequired Experience & SkillsStrong background in electrical design for industrial or large commercial facilitiesExperience with:Power distribution systems (LV-MV)Protection and coordination principlesMission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, power plants, hospitals, airports, manufacturing facilities)Proficiency in design tools such as:AutoCADRevitSolidWorks (or similar)Ability to:Work independently with minimal supervisionProduce complete design packages (not just redlines)Deliver high-quality work under tight timelines (often 1-2 day turnarounds)Strong communication skills and ability to interface directly with clientsPreferred QualificationsExperience with SEL relays and related protection systemsBackground in MEP or architectural engineering firms, utilities, or industrial facilitiesExposure to both custom-engineered and standardized design environmentsExperience mentoring junior engineers or technicians
