We're partnering with a fast-growing, mission-driven health technology company operating at the intersection of data engineering, medical imaging, and applied AI. With strong clinical traction and growing data volumes, the company is rebuilding its data foundations to support the next phase of product and ML development.This is a senior, hands-on role for a Clinical Data Engineering Lead who will own high-impact data systems end to end and set the technical bar for everything that follows.Why This Role Stands OutOwn and redesign mission-critical clinical data ingestion pipelines from the ground upWork deeply with medical imaging and unstructured clinical data at scaleHigh trust, high autonomy environment with direct impact on ML and product outcomesOpportunity to shape engineering standards now, with a path to future team leadershipWhat You'll DoOwn clinical data pipelines end to end: ingestion, transformation, storage, validation, and governanceBuild scalable pipelines for messy, heterogeneous datasets, including image-derived dataImplement data quality frameworks, validation checks, and monitoringDefine data lineage, governance, and documentation suitable for regulated environmentsPartner closely with ML and software engineers to support model development and production workflowsAct as the internal authority on clinical data assets and technical best practicesThis role is expected to be ~80% engineering / ~20% applied data & science, with a strong emphasis on robust, production-grade systems.What We're Looking ForProven experience designing and owning data ingestion pipelines for complex, messy dataStrong hands-on skills with Python and SQLExperience building data systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred)Close collaboration history with ML, data science, or analytics teamsComfort operating as a senior individual contributor with broad ownershipPragmatic, delivery-focused mindsetHighly Valued ExperienceMedical imaging or image-based data workflows (DICOM helpful but not required)Clinical, scientific, or biomedical data exposureRegulated data environments (e.g. HIPAA, FDA, audit readiness)Workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Metaflow, Prefect, or similar)Experience modernising or rebuilding legacy data platformsWorking Model & CompensationHybrid working model with a strong preference for Boston-area candidatesRemote considered only for exceptional profilesCompetitive base salary plus bonus and meaningful equityComprehensive benefits packageCulture & EnvironmentThis is a tech-first engineering culture that is fast-moving, ownership-driven, and impact-oriented.
