Produce Buyer

A well-established Produce Importer/Distributor is searching for a Produce Buyer to join their team in Miami. The Produce Buyer is responsible for executing all buying activities to ensure consistent product availability, correct pricing, and efficient inventory flow. This role converts sourcing strategy into daily purchase decisions, aligned with sales demand, margin targets, and operational constraints.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Place purchase orders based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and program commitmentsConfirm pricing, volumes, and shipment details with suppliers before each shipmentEnsure all purchases follow sourcing agreements and approved supplier listAdjust orders in real time based on changes in demand, quality, or supply conditionsMonitor daily inventory, aging, and rotation by productAlign inbound shipments with sales orders and warehouse capacityPrevent overstock, shortages, and unnecessary shrinkCoordinate with operations on product readiness and handling requirementsMaintain daily communication with approved suppliers on orders, shipments, and issuesTrack supplier performance on fill rate, quality, and reliabilityCoordinate with logistics team on shipment schedules, arrivals, and documentationVerify purchase prices against agreements and market conditionsReview and approve supplier invoices for accuracyWork with accounting to resolve discrepancies, claims, and short paymentsSupport CFO with cost visibility, accruals, and cash flow planning related to purchasesSkills and Qualifications:5 to 10 years of experience in produce purchasing or supply chainStrong understanding of perishable inventory managementExperience with import programs and domestic sourcingHigh attention to detail and ability to manage multiple SKUs and shipmentsStrong communication and negotiation skillsExperience with ERP systems, preferably Famous Software experience. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required. Salary: 85-115K, Medical Benefits, 401K
