This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and supporting production processes for composite structures, while collaborating closely with design and production teams across the product lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing & Process DevelopmentDevelop and document manufacturing instructions, BOMs, and specifications based on engineering drawingsDesign, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes and tooling for composite partsSupport design for manufacturability (DFM) across all development phasesProduction & Technical SupportCollaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and drive process improvementsTrain operators on new manufacturing methods and best practicesSupport material selection aligned with manufacturing capabilitiesQuality & ValidationReview and disposition non-conforming materialsDevelop and validate repair processes in collaboration with engineeringContribute to cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction initiativesEnsure compliance with engineering standards and methodologiesProblem Solving & Continuous ImprovementApply engineering judgment and data analysis to resolve complex manufacturing challengesDrive continuous improvement in processes, cost, and efficiencyRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in STEM field + 10+ years experience(or Master's + 8+ years)Strong experience in mechanical manufacturing processes (machining, welding, joints, fasteners)Expertise in GD&T and engineering drawing interpretationHands-on experience with composite materialsFiberglass, carbon fiber, aramidPrepreg and wet layup (epoxy systems)Experience in composite structures manufacturingFiber reinforcement, curing, ovens/autoclavesAdhesives and surface preparationStrong problem-solving, ownership, and execution skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with CAD/PLM tools (Creo, Windchill, NX, Teamcenter, FiberSIM)Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (ultrasonic, X-ray, FPI, etc.)Knowledge of DFM/DFA principlesUnderstanding of manufacturing cost and scalabilityExperience with PFMEA implementationALTEN Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
