Manufacturing & Process Engineer II(Circuit Card Assembly / Electronics Manufacturing)Location: Chelmsford, MAPosition Type: Direct HireReports to: Engineering ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Manufacturing & Process Engineer II with a strong background in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) and electronics manufacturing. This role provides hands-on technical ownership of manufacturing processes, with a focus on process development, continuous improvement, quality, and yield optimization. The engineer will serve as a key technical interface between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and external customers.This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being close to the factory floor and driving improvements from NPI through sustained productionKey ResponsibilitiesProvide manufacturing and process engineering support for circuit card assembly (PCBA) and electromechanical productsOwn and optimize SMT and through-hole assembly processes, including:Solder paste printingPick-and-placeReflow, wave, and/or selective solderingDevelop, document, and maintain:Routings and travelersBills of Material (BOMs)Work instructions, assembly instructions, and visual aidsSupport New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including process definition, line setup, and first article buildsLead DFM / DFA reviews with internal teams and customers (pre- and post-release)Analyze production metrics (yield, defects, scrap, rework) and implement corrective actions using root cause analysis toolsInvestigate and resolve manufacturing issues related to solder defects, component placement, process variability, and test failuresServe as technical liaison between Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and customersReview and implement engineering change orders (ECOs) and customer change noticesSupport RFQs by reviewing scope of work, labor estimates, materials, and special process requirementsEvaluate estimated vs. actual costs and update routings and standards accordinglyDevelop or support tooling, fixtures, stencils, and test aids as neededEnsure compliance with internal procedures and applicable industry standardsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline) or equivalent hands-on experience6+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, preferably in a contract manufacturing environmentStrong hands-on knowledge of Circuit Card Assembly (CCA / PCBA)Ability to read and interpret:Electrical schematicsAssembly drawingsParts listsEngineering change noticesExperience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office toolsHigh attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred / Nice-to-Have ExperienceHands-on experience with:AOI, X-ray, ICT, or functional testingIPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001)Experience supporting high-mix, low-to-medium volume productionLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experienceERP/MRP system experience
