Job Description - Data Center Mechanical Commissioning EngineerThis is a US based position only - sponsorship not provided. This is not a data engineer position.Employment Type: Full-Time, ExemptTravel Requirement: 60-80% project-based travel to client sites nationwide. Home base is flexible "” live anywhere in the continental U.S. with reliable access to a major airport. Position SummaryThe Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for executing mechanical commissioning activities on mission-critical data center projects under the direction of senior engineers, discipline leads, and project managers. This role focuses on disciplined execution, accurate documentation, and system readiness to support reliable cooling and mechanical performance in alignment with the Anchor Mission Critical Playbook.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute mechanical commissioning activities as assigned by Senior Engineers or LeadsPerform Pre-Functional Checks (PFCs), including L2/L3 readiness inspectionsExecute Functional Performance Testing (FPT) per approved proceduresSupport Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including thermal failure and recovery scenariosCoordinate with electrical, controls teams, contractors, and OEMs during testingDocument test results, deficiencies, and corrective actionsMaintain accurate, timely commissioning documentationTechnical CompetenciesFoundational understanding of mechanical and cooling systemsFamiliarity with CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, valves, and heat rejection equipmentAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and sequences of operationUnderstanding of basic redundancy and thermal performance conceptsWillingness to learn commissioning processes and toolsEducation & Experience RequirementsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience2-7 years of experience in mechanical systems, construction, or commissioningPreferred:Mission-critical or data center experiencePrior exposure to commissioning or testing activitiesCertifications (Preferred)OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction SafetyCommissioning-related coursework or trainingPerformance ExpectationsSafe, accurate execution of assigned mechanical testing activitiesComplete and defensible commissioning documentationResponsiveness to direction and feedbackDemonstrated technical growth and readiness for increased responsibilityCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary commensurate with experiencePerformance-based bonus eligibilityTravel expenses and per diem per company policyBenefits eligibility per company plansSalary Range$90,000 - $118,000This range reflects nominal experience of 2-7 years in mechanical commissioning or related fields.
