Partnering closely with leaders across the organization, this role will strengthen culture, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness while fostering an environment where employees feel supported, engaged, and able to do their best work. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Head / Vice President, Human Resources will oversee the HR function and ensure that priorities, risks, and resources are aligned to support the Company's long-term success.The Company is a growing organization based in Boston, Massachusetts, with additional staff working in a hybrid or virtual capacity across the Greater Boston area and throughout the United States.This position requires onsite office work 4-5 days/week.Major Duties/ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Organizational EffectivenessPartner with the General Counsel, CEO, and Leadership Team to align people strategy with company goals and clinical milestonesProvide coaching and guidance to leaders on team management, communication, and performanceLead organizational design efforts to support growth, clarity of roles, and cross-functional effectivenessStrengthen leadership alignment, accountability, and decision-making processesBuild trust, cohesion, and shared ways of working across scientific and G&A teams to support collaboration and organizational clarityCulture, Engagement & Employee ExperienceDefine, articulate, and reinforce the Company values and cultural expectationsLead initiatives that enhance employee engagement, collaboration, and psychological safetyServe as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders, ensuring fair and consistent employee relations practicesSupport programs that recognize performance and reinforce a high-performance cultureFoster connection and alignment across diverse teams, ensuring culture scales effectively as the organization growsTalent Strategy & RecruitingOversee talent acquisition strategy and build scalable recruiting processes across scientific and G&A functionsPersonally source and assess candidates for critical leadership and technical rolesImprove onboarding and integration to accelerate new-hire effectivenessDevelop talent evaluation, succession planning, and growth frameworksCompensation, Benefits & Total RewardsLead the design, planning, and administration of competitive compensation programsPartner with Finance and the Leadership Team on workforce planning, budgeting, and forecastingOversee benefits programs and annual renewals to support employee wellbeing and retentionHR Operations, Systems & ComplianceEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsOversee HR policies, procedures, and systems to ensure consistency and scalabilityLead performance management processes, including tool rollout, coaching, and measurementManage immigration, visa compliance, and other regulatory requirementsOversee HRIS and other system accuracy, reporting, and data integrityTeam Leadership & DevelopmentProvide leadership, coaching, and development to HR team membersEstablish clear priorities, workflows, and service standards within the HR functionDevelop and manage the HR department budgetEducation & Professional Experience Required12+ years of progressive HR experience with 5+ years of HR leadership in biotech across multiple HR disciplines, including several years supporting executive-level leadersBachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferredExperience leading HR in high-growth scientific organizations, ideally through key inflection points such as clinical advancement or organizational scalingDemonstrated ability to mature HR systems, processes, and infrastructure to support a growing, science-driven organizationProven experience building and leading performance management, learning and development, and talent planning programs that support organizational clarity and growthStrong background in compensation strategy, including benchmarking, leveling, and partnering with executive leadership and/or Compensation CommitteesExperience navigating complex employee relations with sound judgment and a strong understanding of employment law (multi-state experience preferred)Ability to coach and influence leaders at all levels, with strong communication skills and high emotional intelligenceDemonstrated success leading through change, ambiguity, and scale in a fast-paced environmentExperience in a public-company environmentTravel: Minimal travel may be required.Work Location:This role requires onsite work 4-5 days/week.Compensation: The salary range for this role is $290,000-$340,000.
