Building Designer

Overview As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team, you will design, evaluate, and deliver world-class, high-performance wall systems, building enclosures, and structures using advanced construction technologies. In this role, you will serve as both a leader and hands-on contributor in the development of innovative approaches to high-performance buildings. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to advance the delivery of dignified, affordable, resilient, and sustainable shelter solutions.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development and refinement of an advanced concrete-based wall system with a focus on human comfort, safety, user experience, and sustainability.Develop construction documents, drawing sets, wall assembly drawings, schematic diagrams, and building envelope details, with particular emphasis on window and door systems, waterproofing, and weatherization.Create construction and sequencing diagrams to clearly communicate the integration of building envelope components with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the field.Collaborate with architects, engineers, and building and materials science teams to establish best practices for weatherization, resilient design, and high-performance thermal assemblies.Support experimentation and prototyping of innovative wall profiles and configurations for future project applications.Maintain and evolve drawing standards, organize technical detail libraries, and assist in developing a wall system catalog suitable for multiple climatic conditions.Produce drawings and documentation to communicate design intent in support of research and development initiatives.Coordinate with software, manufacturing, and construction operations teams to ensure successful implementation of wall systems during construction.Qualifications5+ years of experience working on complex, multidisciplinary architectural design and planning projects.Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Suite.Experience across all phases of design, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.Proven ability to produce and organize construction documents for complex projects, with strong integration of building systems.Strong interest in working collaboratively within a fast-paced, evolving product and design environment.Demonstrated interest in sustainable design, emerging construction technologies, and building science.Work samples or a portfolio showcasing construction documentation experience is required.
