Haight, Brown & Bonesteel LLP, a well-established civil defense litigation law firm with offices throughout California, seeks a Human Resources Assistant for the downtown Los Angeles office. This is a 100% in person position. Our law firm culture emphasizes collaboration, transparency, work-life balance, and long-term professional development.The Human Resources Assistant helps the Manager of Human Resources in carrying out day to day operations and various human resources programs and procedures for five offices in California. You will operate in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and serve as a point of contact for employees on process and procedures and provide guidance on all aspects of the employee life cycle.DUTIESAssists the Human Resources Manager in preparing and processing data on new hires, terminations, salary, position and status changes, etc., including preparation of matters relating to employee performanceAssists with employee enrollment in benefits plans and answers basic questions regarding benefitsAssists with various HR-related tasks, such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and handling correspondence.Processes unemployment claims.Coordinates employee orientation, exit interview process and maintains records pertaining to employment application intake.Assists with maintenance of accurate and up-to-date employee files, both physical and electronic.Assists employees with personnel and policy informationAssists in maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment regulations with mandatory postings.Assists with other projects as required and assigned.REQUIREMENTSAt least 3 years experience in an HR role at a law firm or professional services firm supporting multiple offices. PHR, SHRM-CP, or related certification preferred.Experience with an HRIS system; ADP Workforce preferred. Experience assisting with payroll processing.Proficiency in relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systemsDemonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employeesExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to handle confidentiality and sensitive matters with discretionSkilled in organizing, handling multiple assignments and prioritizing workAbility to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently as well as effectively within a teamProofreads accuratelyThe position offers a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 per yearWe offer a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance and flexible spending accounts.
