Job Description

Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Substation Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and closeout of high voltage substation and transmission line projects across the full lifecycle. The role requires full accountability for schedule, budget, forecasting, change management, and vendor oversight. This position supports multidisciplinary coordination, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities within a utility or power delivery environment. Strong project management experience, technical substation expertise, and proficiency with common PM and reporting tools are required. This full-time position is located in Sacramento, California.Pay range: $60 - $65Benefits:Sick Leave: One hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked (sick leave can be used after 90 days of employment)EAP: Employee Assistance ProgramBenefit options available: Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, Group Life/AD&D, Voluntary Life/AD&D, Voluntary Short-Term Disability, Voluntary Long-Term Disability, Voluntary Critical Illness, Voluntary Accident, Hospital Indemnity, 401k (eligible after one year and 1,000 hours worked - employer match up to 4%)Other benefits include the following: Calm App, LifeBalance Discount ProgramResponsibilities: Lead the planning, direction, coordination, and budgeting of high-voltage substation and transmission line projects across the full project lifecycle, from initiation through closeoutManage utility substation projects with end-to-end accountability, including planning, execution, monitoring and control, and project closeoutSupport and manage transmission line projects within a utility or power delivery environmentApply strong project management fundamentals, including schedule development, forecasting, budget tracking, funding requests, change management, accruals, and invoice reviewOversee subcontractors and vendors, including contract administration and performance management throughout project executionRequirements: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline, or equivalent experience5+ years of related experience on utility projects (Substation, Transmission Line, Electric Generation, or Distribution)Demonstrated experience managing utility substation projects end-to-end, from planning/initiation through commissioning, energization, closeout, and warranty periodProven ability to lead a project manager role with full lifecycle ownership on substation projectsExperience supporting transmission line projects within a utility or power delivery environmentStrong working knowledge of project management fundamentals, including schedule development, forecasting, budget tracking, funding requests, change management, accruals, and invoice reviewExperience coordinating commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities, including punch lists, as-builts, and closeout documentationExperience managing subcontractors and vendors, including contract administration and performance management throughout project executionAbility to coordinate multidisciplinary scope, including civil construction, equipment installation, and vendor interfacesUtility or power delivery environment experience strongly preferredHigh-voltage substation project experience preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint)Knowledge of SAP, Primavera P6, Unifier, ProjectWise, and Power BI desiredMP Certification highly preferredStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to clearly articulate substation project experience during the interview process for this role, including project scope and full lifecycle involvementWork sponsorship is not available at this time.
