About the Opportunity Harrison Gray Search is leading an executive search for a premier, 35-year-old boutique Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) to identify their next Director of Operations.Our client is seeking a highly experienced operational leader who will be responsible for streamlining company operations, enhancing their technology stack, and managing their growing team. As a cornerstone of this boutique firm, the Operations Director will help design and implement new processes and procedures, serving as the crucial intermediary between the staff and executive leadership.This is a highly autonomous, hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will combine high-level strategic thinking with the willingness to roll up their sleeves and execute the day-to-day administrative details that drive our client's culture and white-glove client experience.Note: This position requires working on-site at our client's Los Angeles office 5 days a week.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Technology InfrastructureCentralize and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all departments across the firm.Assess, recommend, and enhance the firm's technology tools and fintech stack as needed.Conduct data audits and help maintain a firm-wide culture of data integrity.Liaise directly with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to ensure operational alignment with regulatory standards.Human Resources & Team GrowthManage the full lifecycle of talent acquisition: recruit, hire, and train new employees.Handle all onboarding and offboarding procedures.Oversee new hire logistics, including background checks, fingerprinting, and coordinating headshots and bios to ensure the firm's website is updated.Assist with team performance management, conducting regular reviews and providing mentorship.Help strategically grow the team to prepare for the firm's next phase of expansion.Firm Cadence & Internal CommunicationsDrive the internal meeting cadence to ensure alignment. This includes setting up and hosting:Weekly Advisor meetingsBi-weekly Senior Management check-in meetingsBi-weekly Operations meetingsBi-monthly mandatory all-employee meetingsClient Experience & CultureOversee high-touch client appreciation initiatives, including handling the process of choosing, ordering, and sending annual Thanksgiving cards to all clients.Manage the year-end "Gifts for Good" gifting program (or other selected gifting programs as decided by the firm).QualificationsExperience: 7+ years of experience in financial services is required; direct experience in an RIA is strongly preferred.Education: BA required; MBA preferred.Location: Must be able to commute to the Los Angeles office 5 days a week.Core Skills: Strong organizational development and process improvement skills.Technical Acumen: Proven experience managing and enhancing a complex wealth management technology stack.Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Decision Making: Makes quick and accurate decisions based heavily on facts, data, and/or metrics.Work Style: Team-oriented, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, and able to creatively think of new ideas to add value to day-to-day operations.Adaptability: Highly organized and process-oriented; able to thrive in a constantly changing environment.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $170,000 - $195,000 starting base salary (based on experience).Bonus: $10,000 - $15,000 annual bonus.Benefits: 401(k) match and Medical Insurance.Career Trajectory: Significant opportunities for professional growth within a highly stable firm.
