About the CompanyThe Hired Bar has partnered with a leading ag-tech company, Plenty, to identify a Head Grower to lead strawberry production within a highly advanced indoor vertical farming environment.About the RoleAs Head Grower, you will lead the strategic development and execution of our strawberry cultivation systems within our advanced indoor vertical farm. As a key leader in our farm management team, you will define the vision for consistent, high-quality plant production and drive the continuous improvement of our growing processes, systems, and team structure.This is a senior leadership role requiring deep horticultural expertise, operational vision, and proven ability to lead people and scale processes in a complex, high-tech environment. You'll be responsible for aligning Plenty's crop production goals with business objectives, integrating innovation with reliability, and ensuring that our growing operations deliver top-tier results "” safely, sustainably, and consistently.What You'll DoDefine and lead the long-term cultivation strategy for strawberry productionOptimize yield, quality, and consistency across indoor vertical farming systemsPartner cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, Product, and Farm OperationsInfluence farm design, system architecture, and technology selectionLeverage data and analytics to drive continuous improvement and performanceLead and develop a high-performing growing teamEnsure compliance with food safety, IPM, and regulatory standardsDrive innovation in CEA systems, environmental controls, and crop modelingWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's or Master's degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), or a related field.8+ years in commercial-scale growing operations (greenhouse, vertical farming, or similar) 5+ years of experience in people leadership roles, managing diverse and multidisciplinary teams in high-output operations.Must have experience growing strawberries and ideally with hydroponics / controlled environment agriculture (CEA)Proven ability to scale production while maintaining quality and consistencyExperience leading teams and building operational capabilityStrong data mindset"”comfortable using metrics, models, and analyticsFamiliarity with food safety standards (HACCP, SQF, GMP/GAP)Compensation range:Base salary commensurate with experience
