Art Director

Our client is seeking an Art Director / Senior Editorial Designer to support a fast-paced, research-driven organization on a contract basis. This role will focus heavily on high-quality editorial design, including reports, publications, and multi-channel assets. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of setting visual direction while executing quickly across deliverables. This is an immediate need with strong visibility to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to forward-thinking, content-rich initiatives.You Will:Lead visual direction and execution for editorial content, including reports, whitepapers, and publicationsDesign and produce high-quality layouts using strong typography and grid systemsTranslate complex, abstract research concepts into clear and compelling visual storytellingCreate supporting assets such as presentation decks, PDFs, and digital contentCollaborate directly with senior stakeholders including production, editorial, and executive leadershipWork within existing brand guidelines while contributing to visual evolution and consistencyManage multiple deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentProvide fresh creative perspective and elevate overall design quality across outputsYou Have:7+ years of experience in editorial design, publication design, or art directionAdvanced expertise in Adobe InDesign with strong typography and layout skillsExperience designing long-form, content-heavy materials such as reports or research publicationsStrong portfolio demonstrating clean, intelligent, and structured design systemsAbility to balance concept development with hands-on production executionExperience working with senior stakeholders and operating with minimal directionProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Google WorkspaceStrong attention to detail and ability to work quickly without sacrificing qualityLogistics:Start Date/Duration: Starting ASAP; short-term projects with potential extensionHours/Week: Approximately 20 Hours/Week (may flex based on workload)Onsite/Offsite: Hybrid 1-2 days/week onsite in Palo Alto, CA (Tues/Thurs preferred)Laptop/Software Requirements: Using your own equipment, Mac-based, Adobe, Google Workspace.
