Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and we're dedicated to ensuring their voices are heard.Verity is currently accepting applications for its volunteer Supervisory Committee, which is independent of the Board of Directors and provides oversight of Verity's audit function to ensure that both the BOD and management meet required financial reporting objectives to safeguard member assets.As a Supervisory Committee member, you will:Attend and participate in Board meetings, engaging in strategic discussions and decision-making with our leadership team.Receive training: Learn about Supervisory Committee functions, credit union operations, and best practices for leadership.Contribute to Verity's mission: Bring your perspectives and insights to help us make Verity an even more sustainable and community-oriented financial institution.Key Responsibilities:Active participation in monthly Supervisory Committee meetingReview and approve financial statements and reportsOversee independent audits for the credit union and internal audits of operational areas for security and compliance.Attending monthly Board meetings is optional, but encouraged.Engage with current Board members and leadership to understand Verity's vision and operations.Contribute to strategic discussions, offering unique perspectives based on your experience and background.Assist in decision-making that will directly impact the growth and success of Verity Credit Union.Ideal Candidate:Strong desire to develop leadership skills and a commitment to the greater good.Passion for socially responsible banking and community-centered values.Willingness to learn and engage in credit union operations specifically around member security.Active involvement in the community and a deep interest in making a positive impact.No background in finance required - we welcome diverse perspectives and experiences.Eligibility Requirements:Be a member of the Credit Union.Satisfy any bonding requirements of the Credit Union.Agree to the terms of the Credit Union's Code of Ethics Policy.Be eligible to vote in Credit Union elections and at membership meetings.Not be employed by the Credit Union or its subsidiaries during the past two years.Not be spouse/family member or live in the same household of an existing employee of the Credit Union, existing Director, Associate Board member, or Supervisory Committee member.Not be in a supervisor-employee relationship in their role outside the credit union with an existing Director, Supervisory Committee member, or Board Associate.The typical commitment is 6-10 hours per month, which includes Board meetings, committee work, and training.
