This role drives operational performance, workforce planning, production strategy, and cross-functional alignment while supporting the company's long-term growth initiatives.The VP of Operations partners closely with executive leadership, including the CEO and CFO, to align operational execution with financial performance, customer expectations, and strategic objectives. This position provides leadership across multiple departments, including Underground, Aerial, ISP, Splicing, Project Management, Engineering, and Traffic Control support functions.The Vice President of Operations is accountable for production output, operational efficiency, team development, and maintaining a strong safety culture across all field and support teams.Core ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & ExecutionOversee daily operations across all construction and field divisionsEnsure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budgetDrive consistency in execution across departmentsMonitor production metrics, job costing, and operational efficiencyEstablish and enforce operational standards and expectationsStrategic Planning & Performance ManagementDevelop and execute operational strategies aligned with company growth goalsAnalyze production data, financial performance, and workforce efficiencyIdentify operational gaps and implement scalable solutionsSupport forecasting, resource planning, and workload balancingDrive continuous improvement initiatives across all departmentsTeam Leadership & Organizational DevelopmentLead and develop department heads, supervisors, and operational leadersBuild leadership pipelines and succession planning across operationsEstablish accountability standards and performance expectationsPartner with HR and Talent Acquisition on hiring strategies and workforce planningPromote a culture of ownership, communication, and executionCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Project Management to align execution with project timelinesPartner with Engineering, Permitting, and Survey teams to ensure project readinessCoordinate with Fleet, Warehouse, and Facilities to ensure operational supportAlign with Finance on cost control, budgeting, and profitability trackingSupport business development efforts through operational insight and capabilitySafety & Compliance LeadershipChampion a company-wide safety-first cultureEnsure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and all regulatory requirementsReview incident reports and lead corrective action initiativesHold leaders accountable for maintaining safe jobsite practicesPartner with Safety leadership to implement training and compliance programsCustomer & Business Partner EngagementSupport key customer relationships through operational performanceParticipate in high-level customer meetings as neededEnsure delivery meets contractual expectations and quality standardsAddress escalations or operational issues impacting customer satisfactionMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)8-12 years of experience in construction, telecom, or utility operations3-5 years of experience leading multiple departments or large teamsStrong understanding of underground, aerial, and/or telecom construction operationsProven ability to manage large-scale operations and multiple crews simultaneouslyStrong financial and operational acumenPreferred SkillsExperience in telecom infrastructure or utility construction environmentsStrong background in production tracking, job costing, and operational KPIsExperience scaling operations across multiple markets or regionsBilingual (Spanish/English) preferredStrong leadership presence with ability to influence across all levelsPhysical Demands & CompetenciesAbility to travel between job sites, offices, and operational locationsOccasional field visits requiring walking uneven terrain or jobsite exposureAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. when requiredStrong leadership, decision-making, and communication abilitiesHigh level of accountability, adaptability, and strategic thinkingWork EnvironmentCombination of office, field, and customer-facing environmentsExposure to construction sites, weather conditions, and operational settingsFast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlinesWork ScheduleFull-time, exempt positionMonday-Friday standard scheduleFlexibility for early mornings, evenings, and weekends as requiredTravel required based on operational needsTraining & Development ExpectationsNew CompetenciesDeep understanding of company operational structure and workflowsFamiliarity with all departmental processes (Underground, Aerial, ISP, Splicing, Project Management, Engineering, and Traffic Control)Mastery of internal reporting, production tracking, and financial systemsAlignment with executive leadership expectations and strategic directionOngoing DevelopmentContinuous improvement in operational efficiency and scalabilityLeadership development and executive-level decision makingCross-functional alignment with finance, HR, and business developmentParticipation in strategic planning and company growth initiativesCompensation $175k to $250k annual base salary plus bonus, depending on expereince.
