Director of Operations - Multifamily

SCI, the Leader in Real Estate Executive Search, is conducting a search for a Director of Operations to oversee a 1,500+ unit Illinois portfolio on behalf of a mission-driven affordable housing operator.Reporting to the COO, the Director of Operations is the strategic and operational leader for the entire Illinois portfolio "” spanning LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and Permanent Supportive Housing. The role requires a seasoned operator not just executing the playbook, but helping write it by driving asset-level turnaround decisions, and serving as the critical link between property management performance and resident-centered mission delivery.Core responsibilities include:Portfolio-wide performance management: occupancy, collections, delinquency, expense controlLeading and mentoring a team of Regional Managers and compliance staffFull regulatory accountability "” LIHTC, HUD, IHDA, Chicago standards, investor auditsTechnology and reporting systems improvements across the portfolioIdeal background:12+ years in property management or affordable housing operations5+ years managing multi-site portfolios and supervising other managersDeep affordable housing finance and tax credit compliance experienceStrong Yardi proficiency and the presence to represent an organization externallyCPM designation and Illinois Managing Broker License preferred
