Mechanical Project EngineerA leading North American aluminum recycling and specification alloy producer is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join its growing engineering team. With multiple manufacturing sites across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, the organization transforms aluminum scrap and by-products into high-quality reusable metal supporting a wide range of industries and sustainability initiatives.This role is based in Coldwater, Michigan, with travel of up to 30% to regional facilities including Chicago Heights and Mississauga, Ontario.What You'll DoAs a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering capital projects and engineering improvements that enhance productivity, reliability, and operational performance across plant locations.Your responsibilities will include:Leading and supporting capital projects from concept through implementationManaging project scope, schedule, budget, and execution with internal teams and contractorsProviding mechanical engineering solutions to improve plant operations and equipment performanceDeveloping and modifying technical drawings and engineering designsCollaborating closely with plant operations teams to ensure successful project deliverySupporting multiple concurrent projects across different sitesDriving continuous improvement and technology upgrades within manufacturing processesRole focus:60% Project Engineering / Project Management20% Plant Support20% Mechanical Systems DesignWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (required)Minimum 2+ years of industrial experience in engineering design, project planning, and implementation (beyond academic projects)Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments preferredProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills with practical, hands-on judgmentFamiliarity with AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor strongly preferredKnowledge of structural design and relevant standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)Experience with aluminum processing or metals manufacturing is a plusSix Sigma and/or PMP certification is a plusAdditional DetailsThis role requires regular collaboration with plant operations teams and contractorsUp to 30% travel across regional facilitiesSponsorship is not available for this positionWhy This RoleThis is an opportunity to take ownership of impactful engineering projects in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
