The Technology Operations Manager is an executive-facing role with Chief of Staff-style scope: a strategic and operational extension of the IT Leadership team, driving financial discipline, operational rigor, and scalable execution.You'll own executive-level deliverables (operating rhythms, reporting, narratives, and decision support) and influence outcomes across teams"”often without direct authority.This is a high-exposure, high-ownership path for an early-career MBA who wants a fast track toward senior leadership through hands-on execution, clear business impact, and close partnership with IT leadership.If you're energized by translating strategy into action, building repeatable systems, and raising the quality of executive decision-making with data and AI-enabled automation, this role is designed for you.Key Responsibilities:Financial & License Optimization (Core Anchor)Own budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis for the Technology organizationAnalyze and optimize software licenses, vendor spend, and contract utilizationIdentify and execute cost optimization opportunities (true-ups, rationalization, consolidation)Partner with Finance and Procurement to strengthen governance, transparency, and spend disciplineProduce executive-ready reporting and narratives (run-rate, savings, cost-to-achieve)Operational Execution & StandardizationBuild and maintain standard operating artifacts (status updates, QBR/MBR materials, town hall decks, staff meeting content)Run the weekly leadership operating rhythm (agenda, decisions, action tracking, follow-through)Continuously improve onboarding materials and processes for new hiresDrive clarity, repeatability, and high-quality communication across the Technology orgAI & Automation (Force Multiplier)Design and deploy AI agents/automation to streamline executive communications, generate reporting and insights, and reduce manual operational workIdentify and implement high-impact AI use cases across Technology and partner teamsContinuously evaluate tools/approaches to increase output without increasing headcountEstablish lightweight governance so AI is used responsibly and effectively at scaleStrategic Execution & Executive Enablement (Chief of Staff-Style Projects)Translate leadership priorities into crisp narratives, plans, and deliverablesDrive cross-functional execution with clear ownership, timelines, and accountability (influence without authority)Create executive-ready briefings, updates, and decision support for senior stakeholdersSurface risks, dependencies, and opportunities early"”with recommended actionsConnect teams to ensure alignment across Technology, Operations, and GrowthResource & Capacity VisibilitySupport a resource management discipline (capacity, demand alignment, skills-to-work mapping)Create visibility into who is working on what"”and whether it aligns to prioritiesEnable leadership tradeoff decisions using data"”not assumptionsOrganizational Intelligence & InsightSynthesize signals across delivery, risk, bottlenecks, and sentimentProvide clear, fact-based insights and recommendations to leadershipReduce surprises through early visibility, proactive communication, and escalationThis role IS:A builder of systems, processes, and automationAn operational and financial operatorA force multiplier for leadership executionA driver of scalable, efficient operating rhythmsThis role is NOT:A traditional administrative assistantA passive coordinator of meetings and notesA purely strategic observer without execution ownershipPreferred Background:MBA (or equivalent) with strong grounding in strategy, operations, and financeEarly-career experience in consulting, strategy/ops, finance, analytics, or chief of staff-adjacent rolesDemonstrated interest in technology, AI, and automation to improve business outcomesStrong Excel/data analysis skills; comfortable building models, KPIs, and executive reportingStrong stakeholder management and executive presence; exposure to AI copilots/automation platforms is a plusCore Competencies:Analytical rigor across financials, licenses, and operationsBias for action (builds, doesn't wait)Operational discipline; creates structure where none existsTechnical curiosity, especially around AI and automationExecutive presence: clear communication and decision-ready outputsInfluence without authority across diverse stakeholdersOwnership mindset (outcomes > activity)What Success Looks Like:Budgets, licenses, and vendor spend are actively managed and optimizedExecutive priorities move faster because operating materials and decision support are consistently high qualityAI and automation measurably reduce manual work and increase throughputWeekly and monthly operating rhythms are tight, predictable, and effectiveThe organization scales impact without proportional headcount growthThe IT leader's time stays focused on the highest-value decisions while you accelerate executive priorities
