Job SummaryThe Retail Power Portfolio Analyst supports our clients Energy Go-To-Market (GTM) efforts by developing, maintaining, and enhancing analytical tools that inform pricing, acquisition, retention, and risk management decisions for Residential and Small Commercial customers. This role is responsible for delivering timely and accurate retail Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) insights, short-term hedge recommendations, portfolio performance analysis, and financial projections to support recurring operations and strategic initiatives.Working closely with Portfolio Management, Risk, and Commercial teams, the Analyst translates complex data into actionable insights. The role also contributes analytical support for emerging opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, as needed. This position operates under close supervision, requires strong analytical judgment, and emphasizes accuracy, accountability, and collaboration while upholding company values and culture. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds company standards, values and culture. Responsibilities:Support recurring daily, weekly, and monthly operational and analytical deliverables, including retail COGS reporting for Residential and Non-Commercial segments, daily cash-month P&L estimates, and weekly risk management reports.Manage, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets from multiple internal and external sources to produce accurate, timely, and actionable insights.Develop, enhance, and maintain analytical models and tools to support portfolio performance monitoring, pricing decisions, and short-term risk mitigation.Actively reconcile expected versus actual costs and volumes, identify drivers of variances, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.Analyze weather, demand, supply, and regulatory or policy conditions to support seasonal hedging strategies and portfolio recommendations.Partner with internal teams to translate complex quantitative analysis into clear business insights and recommendations.Prepare and deliver clear, concise presentations and reporting materials tailored to a variety of stakeholder audiences.Ensure data accuracy, documentation, and process discipline while continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and analytical rigor.Provide analytical support for special projects and emerging initiatives, including but not limited to new products, customer growth strategies, and potential M&A activity.Required Skills:Understanding of downstream power industry standards, market trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements.Proven proficiency using Excel, Power BI, Python, and/ or SQL.Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.Effective communication skills to collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders.Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.Demonstrated cognitive and problem-solving skills.Growth mindset with a demonstrated ability to innovate, embrace change and have grit.Education & ExperienceRequired:Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, data science or related fields.3+ years of relevant experience within the wholesale or deregulated electricity industry.Preferred:Experience fetching, analyzing, and providing actionable insights from ISO data; ERCOT experience preferred.Physical Demands and Working ConditionsLocation:This position is based out of the Houston Texas office.This role may work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote).
