Job Title: Project Controller (Capital Projects)Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)Estimated Duration: 12 MonthsJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Project Controller to support the financial management of capital projects from initiation through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.Key ResponsibilitiesTrack and manage project costs including purchase orders, invoices, and work ordersDevelop and maintain project forecasts; identify and resolve variances and data discrepanciesProvide financial analysis and reporting to support project estimating, contractor management, and decision-makingPerform final cost reconciliation and ensure accurate project closeoutPrepare detailed cost reports and communicate cost performance to project teams and leadershipMonitor cost trends and identify risks or opportunities impacting project budgetsSupport continuous improvement of forecasting and cost control processesMaintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendorsSupport full lifecycle project controls from initiation through completionRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)8+ years of experience in project controls or cost control on capital projectsStrong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking methodologiesAdvanced proficiency in Excel and experience working with large datasetsExperience managing purchase orders, invoices, and financial reporting processesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to diverse stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting large-scale capital projects in industries such as energy, utilities, construction, or infrastructureUnderstanding of the relationship between cost and schedule dataExperience with project management or financial systems (e.g., ERP tools)Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial data in a clear, concise mannerContinuous improvement mindset with experience enhancing cost control processesKey CompetenciesFinancial acumen and attention to detailData analysis and critical thinkingEffective communication and stakeholder managementCollaboration and teamworkAdaptability and continuous learning
