Estimator - General Contracting DivisionToro Construction Corp Orland Park, IL | Full-Time | Preconstruction DepartmentCompetitive Salary Based on ExperiencePosition OverviewToro Construction Corp is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to support our growing General Contracting Division. This key team member will lead the preparation of accurate, competitive, and thorough estimates for a variety of commercial and public works projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for public and private construction projects.Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing.Identify and evaluate project risks, including material, labor, and subcontractor costs.Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing and maintain a strong database of reliable partners.Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and scope.Lead internal bid review meetings and present scope, pricing, and strategy to management.Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents to ensure accurate transition from estimate to execution.Maintain accurate records of past estimates and outcomes to improve future pricing.Track industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and realistic bids.Participate in value engineering and scope clarification discussions as needed.Preferred Qualifications3-7 years of estimating experience in general contracting or commercial construction.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Excel, On-Screen Takeoff, etc.).Strong understanding of construction means and methods.Familiarity with union labor requirements and prevailing wage/public projects.Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Soft Skills & CompetenciesAttention to Detail - Accurately evaluates scope and specifications to avoid oversight.Problem Solving - Identifies cost-saving opportunities and constructability issues.Communication - Clearly presents estimate breakdowns and collaborates across departments.Accountability - Meets deadlines and follows through on all commitments.Initiative - Constantly improves estimating tools, resources, and strategies.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive Salary, commensurate with experience and qualificationsHealth Insurance (employee coverage partially paid by company)Paid Time Off and Paid HolidaysSales/bonus incentives may be offered based on volume awarded and performanceMonthly vehicle/fuel allowance (for site visits/pre-bid walkthroughs as needed)Company-issued technology and estimating toolsOpportunities for career growth and advancement in a dynamic companyWhy Work With Us?Toro Construction Corp is a family-owned, rapidly growing general contractor with deep roots in the Chicagoland construction industry.
