This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP while driving process improvements, automation initiatives, and team development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values operational excellence, and is passionate about building scalable accounting processes.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Process ImprovementOversee the daily performance and workflow of the accounting department.Identify process bottlenecks and implement automation and efficiency improvements.Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff to support team growth and scalability.Communicate priorities, deadlines, and business objectives clearly to the team.Partner with leadership to enhance internal reporting capabilities through technology and process optimization.Month-End Close & Financial ReportingLead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.Maintain oversight of general ledger activity across multiple operating entities and consolidated reporting.Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and FX translations.Review monthly account reconciliations and address outstanding items proactively.Support external audits by preparing schedules and audit support documentation.Operational AccountingOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations.Assist with consignor payouts and ensure compliance with consignment agreements, including post-sale adjustments.Manage the review and reconciliation of Corporate Amex transactions and employee expense reports.Support treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, ACH/wire processing, and foreign vendor payment management.Prepare annual 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filings.Participate in system enhancements, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting required.Strong understanding of US GAAP and domestic/foreign tax regulations.CPA or CPA candidate preferred.Wine & Spirits and/or Retail industry experience strongly preferred.Experience5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.Prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership in a Senior Accountant capacity.Experience managing month-end close and operational accounting functions in a high-volume environment.Prior ERP experience required; NetSuite strongly preferred.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelCore HoursMonday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm (3 days in office)Compensation$105K-$115KZachys provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
