Position: Mechanical/Process EngineerLocation: Minneapolis or Atlanta (hybrid)This position is related to a broad range of industrial, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure projects, including process-driven facilities, utility and support systems, power generation plants, and other complex industrial installations. The role supports U.S. projects across multiple sectors and requires solid experience in mechanical and process systems design for industrial facilities, with close coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams.Primary Responsibilities The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and design of mechanical systems and process equipment associated with industrial and energy plants across all project phases, from conceptual studies through IFC packages and construction support. The position has a strong focus on equipment selection, process documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.Key responsibilities include: Develop and review mechanical designs for a wide range of industrial facilities, including manufacturing plants, energy infrastructure, renewable systems, storage facilities, and balance-of-plant or auxiliary systems supporting complex processes.Prepare and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for typical industrial process systems such as fluid handling, utilities, thermal systems, compressed air, fuel and chemical handling, water and wastewater systems, and other auxiliary and support systems.Perform and validate heat and mass balance calculations for industrial processes and utility systems, ensuring operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance with design requirements.Equipment sizing, technical evaluation, and selection of major and auxiliary mechanical equipment, including heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, cooling systems, vessels, tanks, and packaged or skid-mounted equipment used across industrial applications.Review vendor documentation, technical bids, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.Coordinate mechanical process design with civil, structural, electrical, I&C, piping, and construction disciplines.Support plant layout development, equipment arrangement, and interface definition with piping and structural design.Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical risk assessments.Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases, including responding to RFIs and reviewing field changes.This position is expected to operate with limited supervision, independently applying standard engineering techniques and exercising sound engineering judgment. Assistance will be provided for complex or nonstandard challenges. Some travel may be required.Minimum Academic & Professional RequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.7 to 12 years of experience in mechanical and process design for industrial facilities.Preferred experience sectors include industrial manufacturing, energy infrastructure, energy storage, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, data centers, or large infrastructure projects..Key Skills The successful candidate will be a flexible and dynamic team player capable of integrating into an international engineering environment.
