About TRC:TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading member-owned electric cooperative network to hire a System Operator II for their state-of-the-art Energy Control Center in Tucker, GA. This is a mission-critical opportunity supporting real-time grid operations and generation dispatch for a large-scale power portfolio serving critical infrastructure and utility customers.SummaryThe System Operator II is responsible for maintaining the real-time balance of a 6,500 MW power portfolio through economic dispatching, fuel management, interchange coordination, and emergency response activities. This role operates within a high-pressure Control Area Operations environment where fast decision-making, system reliability, and compliance are essential to maintaining bulk power system integrity.ResponsibilitiesIndependently commit and de-commit generation resources to meet system demand across gas-fired units and pumped storage assetsExecute real-time dispatch decisions with short turnaround windows while optimizing generation economicsManage natural gas nominations and fuel coordination activitiesMonitor ITS interface entitlements and coordinate interchange transactions across the gridManage voltage and megawatt output to maintain reliable bulk power system operationsLead response efforts during system contingencies including loss of generation and load forecast deviationsEnsure compliance with NERC CPS 2 standards and Joint Contingency Reserve requirementsProvide on-the-job training and support for Generation CoordinatorsDeliver operational activity reporting and updates to leadership as neededMaintain compliance with Bulk Electric System Cyber Security requirements (CIP 004)RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredActive NERC System Operator Certification required (RC preferred; TO or BIT accepted)6+ years of experience in transmission/generation operations or construction environments2+ years of control center experience including interchange and pool desk operationsMilitary power production or maintenance experience may be considered equivalentStrong understanding of electrical theory, power systems operations, and trigonometryAbility to make sound operational decisions under high-pressure conditionsProficiency with Microsoft Office and operational control systemsAbility to obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized StatusWhy This RoleMission-critical role directly impacting grid reliability and power generation operationsOpportunity to work inside a modern Energy Control Center environmentStrong long-term stability within a leading electric cooperative organizationHigh-visibility operational role with direct impact on system reliability and emergency responseTRC Talent Solutions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
